Clash of Cultures

Throughout history, cultures have "collided" with each other, sometimes accidentally, sometimes purposely. At times these collisions have been peaceful, often they've been anything but. Sometimes these collisions have resulted in positive effects on one culture and devastating effects on the other. Usually, however, these classes of culture have resulted in both positive and negative effects on BOTH cultures.

In this unit, you will examine three case studies where distinct cultures have collided, and you will discover the results and decide for yourself whether this clash of cultures was good, bad, or something else entirely.

To demonstrate your mastery of this topic, you will be required to complete the assignments for each session, and create a Final Project.

The case studies for this unit are:

The Crusades

The Spanish and the Aztecs

The Atlantic Slave Trade
