What is GRAPES?
GRAPES is a kind of template you can use to study a civilization. Every civilization has certain "elements" which define it. When we examine a civilization, it is helpful to look at the same elements for each one in order to make comparing civilizations easier.
Another way to look at is is to think of GRAPES as a lens through which we will examine each of the three civilizations.
When you study each civilization, you will learn about its:
Geography: What are the physical features of the landscape, and how did they influence this civilization?
Religion: What deities did people worship? What belief system did they follow?
Acheivements: What innovations or inventions did this civilization produce in mathematics, language, engineering, science, art, or architecture were produced by this civilization?
Political system: How was this civilization ruled, what kind of government did it have?
Economy: How did people earn a living? How and what goods and services were produced or traded by this civilization"?
Social structure: How was this civilization's society structured? What social classes existed?
